Job Role: Utility & Facility Technician

Report to: Electrical/Mechanical Engineer

 Location: Lagos Mainland


Job Overview:

The Utility/Facility Technician together with other technicians provides process and technical support to the machine crews in order to maintain and optimize asset process stability and develop crew’s process knowledge to achieve safety, quality and productivity targets.



Main Responsibility:

Safety

Ensure compliance to all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations.  All non-conformances should be dealt with immediately all unresolved issues must be raised with Asset Leader.  Follow the correct WSWP and Process Instruction for all tasks performed. Carry out continual development of process optimization to ensure safety.

Productivity: UTILITY

  • To support production within the diaper operation by providing electrical/utility support to the production teams.. 
  • To continuously work on improvement plans to upgrade/improve the utility asset performance and capability. 
  • Ensure all documentation, including generator, air compressor and dryer is recorded properly and systematically to provide optimum reliability of the asset are recorded properly and systematically to provide optimum reliability of the asset. 
  • To assist with maintenance activities on all utility equipment and installation. .
  • Recommend spares requirements to the Electrical Engineer. 


Productivity: FACILITY

  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical, cooling and facility equipment. 
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance, identifying and repairing faults on facility equipment
  • Performs Fitting and assembly assignment on piping’s, facility equipment including the use of hand tools.
  • Ensure all documentation, including air conditioner, water system and sewage system, recorded properly and systematically to provide optimum reliability of the asset. 
  • To ensure that facility spares are available and ready for use when required.
  • Carrying out Welding, fabrication, brazing, soldering and other jointing processes.
  • Measurement and inspection techniques using a variety of mechanical/facility equipment to eliminate failure.
  • To continuously work on improvement plans to upgrade/improve the facility asset performance and capability. 
  • Documentation, including air conditioner, water system and sewage system, recorded properly and systematically to provide optimum reliability of the asset.
  • To ensure that facility spares are available and ready for use when required and recommend spares requirements to the Mechanical Engineer.

  • Shift Leaders: Provide support on Asset care related issues; work with shift leader to identify improvement opportunities for the process and the teams.
  • Operating Teams: Effectively implement changes to machine processes.  Give feedback on uptime initiatives to improve outputs.  Identify solutions to asset related problems.
  • Maintenance Team: Work together with the team prioritization of efforts toward PM shuts, process improvements and trouble shooting.
  • Process Engineer: Liaise with Process Engineer to schedule trial activities.

Qualification and Experience:

  • HND in Engineering or equivalent tertiary education;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience on high-speed production equipment/ process experience;
  • Prior generator, air compressor and dryer maintenance or operating experience, especially on Perkins and Ingersoll Rand machines will be advantageous.

JAMB Fixes Admission Cut-off Marks for 2017/2018 Academic Session

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday fixed the cut-off marks for admission into higher institutions of learning in the country for the 2017/2018 academic session. At a policy meeting held with the heads of institutions and other education regulatory bodies in Abuja, the examination body ratified 120 as the minimum mark for degree-awarding institutions. The meeting at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja, had in attendance vice chancellors, Rectors, Provosts and Registrars of tertiary institutions. For the polytechnics, the lowest mark that qualifies a candidate for admission is 100, while the highest that an institution can fix is 180. Same mark applies to Colleges of Education. The admission cut-off mark for Innovative Enterprise Institutions ranges between 110 and 120.
